History

Orlando Executive Airport was opened as the Municipal Airport of Orlando in 1928. It was Central Florida’s first commercial airport, primarily used by the USPS.

Orlando Executive Airport was used primarily by the US Army Air Corps as a military training facility in the 1940s. In 1946, it was released to the city of Orlando.

In 1976, it was put under the control of the Aviation Authority of Greater Orlando. It was renamed in 1982 as the Orlando Executive Airport.
