Frequently Asked Questions About Wildlife Removal

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE ANIMALS YOU TRAP?

According to Florida Law, the Fish and Wildlife Commission states: live-captured nuisance wildlife must be released legally or euthanized humanely within 24 hours of capture or trap inspection. Native nuisance wildlife may be released off the capture site. If the release site is a minimum of 40 contiguous acres, and the person releasing the nuisance wildlife has in their possession written permission from the landowner. The landowner of the release site allowing will agree to the release on their property. Nuisance wildlife may not be released on federal, state, county, local or private lands without written permission of the landowner. The animals we trap are released on over 40 acres of privately owned uninhabited land.

I HEAR SCRATCHING NOISES. WHAT COULD IT BE?

It is almost impossible to identify what type of animal intrusion you have over the telephone. Affordable Wildlife Removal Experts agree that it is paramount to complete a full inspection of the property to identify the issue and how they entered the residence. Here are some signs that may indicate you have the following animals:

  • Scratching or scampering noises in the attic during morning or early evening hours, with no night activity, is typically squirrel activity.
  • Light scratching or chewing, (sounds similar to scratching on the wall with a fingernail), on a wall or ceiling during any time of day or night is usually mouse activity.
  • If you are hearing rolling or the sounds of footsteps in the attic, it is typically raccoons.

HOW DID AN ANIMAL GET INSIDE?

Most buildings have a number of potential openings that are not easily seen. Animals could have entered through small crevices. In addition, Affordable Wildlife Removal experts have a short list of places they enter at:

  • in the soffit
  • roof
  • crawl spaces under the establishment
  • smaller rodents (such as rats or mice) can use openings as small as the size of a quarter

IS DUCK REMOVAL NECESSARY?

Did you know, trapping ducks is one of the most effective ways to remove them? Affordable Wildlife Removal experts know that ducks can do extensive damage. Duck can do damage to areas such as porches, pool decks, sidewalk, drive-ways, and sometimes attics. They will nest in residential areas and they will become very territorial.

If certain types of ducks invade your attic, there is a possibility the insulation and drywall will be ruined. Please be aware that we want you to know that using poison to rid your establishment of ducks is illegal. In conclusion, being animal lovers, we really don’t want to see the duck to die.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO REMOVE A DEAD ANIMAL FROM A WALL?

When an animal dies not only does it create a foul smell, it can cause a home or business unusable for a period of time. The dead animal will breed mold and bacteria harmful for humans and pets. Affordable Wildlife Removal can locate and remove any dead animal allowable under FWC law, disinfect, and deodorize to rid the property of the smell, bacteria, and/or mold.

ARE RACCOONS DANGEROUS?

No, raccoons are not dangerous! They may look cute to some, but they are dangerous if they have contracted rabies. In which case, the raccoon will be fuming from its mouth and it is recommended that you avoid any animal with rabies at all cost. Be aware that raccoons are the number one carrier of rabies in Florida. In addition, rabies is 100% fatal if untreated.

A SQUIRREL HAD BABIES IN MY ATTIC. WHEN OR WILL THE BABIES LEAVE?

The squirrels might eventually leave but not for months after they are born. Waiting for these critters to leave is subjecting the property to significant and expensive damage. Squirrels can rip apart electrical wiring and ruin drywall.

Did you know, squirrels have been known to destroy air conditioning duct work as well. Unfortunately, squirrels leave feces and urine everywhere. Affordable WIldlife Removal does not believe that allowing them to leave on their own is a good idea. We have experience in finding the openings used by the squirrels that are found by other wildlife.
